Project

An interactive browser-based tool exploring the relationship between sound and type.

An experiment in making type feel — letting users not just see a typeface, but hear and shape it. As the cursor moves, so do the characters: fonts shift weight, stretch or compress, while the music modulates in parallel. Designed with Kaleidografik and featuring Monotype typefaces, it invites exploration at the intersection of audio and form.

Overview

A digital experiment created with Monotype and Kaleidografik — exploring the expressive interplay between type, sound, and motion.

Our approach

At the centre is a browser-based audio mixer: part instrument, part interface. Users shape a live soundscape using Moog-style filters and responsive envelopes, crafted around bespoke stems composed by Audiosocket. As the music shifts — becoming brighter, denser, or more subdued — the typography follows suit. Weight, width, contrast, and form all respond in real time, transforming Monotype’s typefaces into living, sonic companions.

We developed the concept and technical build, creating a system where cursor movement becomes a kind of performance — one that blurs the boundary between audio and design. Kaleidografik’s visual direction extended this idea into a dynamic, tactile environment, choreographing type and motion into a unified field of play.

An invitation to see sound, hear form, and explore the shared texture between them.
